How to set up a Ledger hardware wallet in India
Buy and set up a Ledger safely: where to buy, checking the box, writing the recovery phrase, installing apps and connecting it to MetaMask.

Buying
Order from Ledger's official store or a reseller listed on its website. Avoid marketplace sellers and second-hand devices. Import duties and delivery times to India vary.
Setup
- Install Ledger Live from ledger.com.
- Turn on the device and choose "Set up as new device".
- Choose a PIN on the device.
- Write down the 24 words it shows, in order, on the card provided. If the box already contained words, it's compromised. Don't use it.
- Confirm the words on the device.
Install apps and add accounts
In Ledger Live, install the apps you need (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana) and add accounts. Your receive addresses appear in Ledger Live. Always check the address on the device's screen too.
Using it with MetaMask
You can connect a Ledger to MetaMask. MetaMask becomes the interface, but transactions still need approval on the Ledger. This is a good setup for a "vault" wallet.
Keep it safe
The device can be replaced. The 24 words can't. Store them as carefully as cash or gold. Security checklist.
