Step 1: Create a separate wallet
Create a new wallet in MetaMask (for Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum and others) or Phantom (for Solana), with its own seed phrase. Write it down offline. MetaMask setup · Phantom guide.
Keep your long-term holdings in a different wallet, ideally a hardware wallet.
Step 2: Fund it carefully
Move only what you need for fees and the activities you plan, on the right network. Send a small test first. Moving USDC from an exchange.
Step 3: Use official links only
Get app links from the project's official website or verified docs. Bookmark them. Airdrop season brings fake claim pages, fake points checkers and impersonator accounts.
Step 4: Keep approvals clean
Each app you use may get permission to spend your tokens. Review and revoke approvals every few weeks, and after any app you stop using.
Step 5: Ignore unexpected tokens
Tokens or NFTs that appear in your wallet unasked are often bait. Interacting with them can lead to a drainer. Hide them.
Step 6: Keep records
For each claim, note the date, token, amount and rupee value that day. You'll need it for tax. Airdrop tax in India.
How many wallets?
Some people use several wallets to farm more. Projects increasingly detect and exclude linked wallets, and managing many seed phrases raises the risk of losing one. One well-kept farming wallet is enough for most people.
